SF Drag King Contest
Celebrating a full decade of decadent drag, DragStrip invites you to the 10th annual San Francisco Drag King Contest, a benefit for PAWS (Pets Are Wonderful Support).

"The San Francisco Drag King Contest is truly one of the hottest events of the year," says MC Fudgie Frottage. "These kings reign supreme. Every year the show keeps getting bigger and better. Drag king aficionados will go nuts over all the sexy, studly and silly talent."

John Cameron Mitchell was spotted at SFDK8 and it's rumored that certain members of the GoGo's may show up this year, as well as Marga Gomez. Also, Seattle burlesque sensation Miss Indigo Blue will be in town, teaching a little tassel twirling, so you can expect to see her in full effect, too!

The doors at DNA Lounge open at 8pm for some early evening cocktails and at 9, Wood takes the stage, serving up their "hard rock, fake cock."

The contest kicks off at 10. Your emcees for the evening are Fudgie Frottage, "The Man With The Biggest Balls In Show Business," and Rusty Hips, SFDK7 and the hardest working drag king in San Francisco! Fudgie tells us to "Expect all kinds of kings, from rough trade to well-dressed dandies and blue-collar butches to prissy pomo-homos. Biceps and trousers bulging, the contestants will turn you on with their outrageous performance styles where lip-synch, live rock, fetish, burlesque, hip-hop, rap, interpretive dance and shtick meet and occasionally beat meat."

As if the contestants themselves won't be entertaining enough, there will be additional performances by burlesque babes DeeDee Luxe and Diamond Daggers, past title holders Arty Fishal and Howie Weenis, and more. Performers of note who'll be vying for the crown include Citizen King, Mr. Trannyshack 2004 Jay Walker and Momma's Boyz. Contestants will be judged on their raw talent, artistic creativity, general studliness and sex appeal, originality, humor, make-up/facial hair application and even their fashion sense -- or lack of it! -- by an illustrious panel of celebrity judges: SFDK9 The Transformers' Tin Hardware and Drew Montana, Simone de la Ghetto, Diana Cage, Pepperspray's Jordan L'Moore and Skeeter Wildman, SF Dyke Daddy 1992. Once The Transformers have passed the title and crown on to this year's winner, revelers can dance into the wee-willy-winkie hours to Hotpants' DJ Chelsea Starr.

The producers and participants would like to thank their very generous sponsors: Vixen Creations, Glama-Rama, Costumes on Haight, Blavod/Extreme Spirits, Good Vibrations, Black & Blue Tattoo and Mr. S. Leather, among others. A strict drag dress code will be enforced. Bring it! Accepted ensembles include drag king or queen, fetish or formal, high femme or festive.

Drag Workshops

Fudgie Frotage
If you think your drag could use a little work, you can brush up on your look and all that goes along with what it takes to "pass" at Arty Fishal's Fabulous Drag King Workshop or Miss Indigo Blue's Femme-Tastic and Tassel-Twirling Workshop a few hours before the event, right ac ross the street at The Center for Sex & Culture. Genderbenders of all sexes and persuasions can prepare themselves for the evening's festivities with drag tips from the pros.

San Francisco Drag King Arty Fishal, aka Faux Queen Super Fishal, aka Leslie Einhorn is a writer, performer and teacher who took the SF Drag King title back in 1998. Arty has been featured on television shows including Evening Magazine, Maury Povich and Dick Clark's "The Other Half." Ms. Einhorn is the director of CASA, a children's theater program. She teaches "Inner Man" workshops through the all-women Shakespeare company, Women's Will.

"As a high femme, Leslie works hard to transform herself to the opposite sex. So whether you're a butch who just needs expert instruction on facial hair or a femme who needs to learn how to pack and then take life by your balls, whether you're new to gender bending or already bent, this workshop is for you!"

Rusty Hips
Students will be instructed on everything from how to apply facial hair to rounding out a proper package. You're asked to bring along your male drag duds so Arty can help you find your inner stud.

Miss Indigo Blue is a three-time award-winner at the annual Miss Exotic World competition. She has performed in Amsterdam, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London and her home town of Seattle, where she teaches Tassel Twirling, Erotic Dance and Teasing Techniques. Miss Indigo founded the Academy of Burlesque in Seattle and serves as its Headmistress and is also the President and Chief Twirling Officer of TwirlyGirl.net, crafting spectacular pasties for burlesque's most famous nipples.

Jordan
"The Sapphic Sensation from Seattle will share the nuts and bolts of glitz, glamour and girldom for all interested people! Bring your favorite lipstick, high-heels and sexy garment, and we'll walk you through Exaggerated Femininity 101! Ever wondered how their lips sparkle so brightly? How they dance in high heels? How they balance all that hair on their heads? Learn the tricks of the Hi-Femme trade from Miss Indigo Blue."

If you don't own your own boas and pasties, there will be plenty available to buy or borrow.
